- Put them in local approval on Bit9.
- Go into the AutoCAD folder on the appropriate server and there is a 2019 folder with one file in it. Copy this to the user's desktop.
- Run the file locally on their machine and it will extract.
- Click Install.
- When done, reboot.
- Delete the install file you copied to their desktop.
- Delete the C:\Autodesk folder (installs only in there) from their machine.
- Launch AutoCAD 2019, choose "select all" and import these settings.
- It will complete and offer to view the log, say No.
- It will continue launching, if file associations are broken it will offer to fix them. Do so. I only saw this once so far needing it.
- Choose Single User for the licensing.
- Sign in to their Autodesk account (they will need to know/guess their password. Reset if needed).
- Close AutoCAD 2019.
- Go into Control Panel and uninstall the following:
- AutoCAD 2017
- Advanced Material Library Image Library 2017
- Run CAP 2020 Program Update from their appropriate 2020apps folder on their server (2020-Office-Software-v2020.exe) and choose repair.
- Right click AutoCAD 2019 and run as administrator.
- Type CAP at the command line.
- Once loaded click on 2020 Office in the top menu area and go to Preferences.
- Set CAP to load at launch and say OK.
- Close AutoCAD 2019 and relaunch it normally. Verify CAP loads. Minimize AutoCAD 2019 (don't close it).
- Launch HMI CADPack Browser. Ignore needed catalog updates at this time.
- Make sure the AutoCAD version in the lower right is set to 2019.
- Drill into any catalog until you get to a fully specified item (a check-mark to the left of it) and then choose place in the lower right. It will run the placement script.
- Pull up minimized AutoCAD 2019 and it should be read for you to place the object. Do so.
That's it, this took me about 30 minutes start to finish, so budget 45 with the user.
